The voice faded out about 5 seconds into the audio message. Since our EAS equipment was still receiving and recording while also retransmitting the message, there was no option to "end" the alert and send the EOM data bursts. I proceeded to power cycle our EAS equipment in order to return to normal programming. This resulted, however, in the normal program audio of WPLA (LP1) being rebroadcast on any station that was retransmitting the alert. Once our EAS equipment was reset, I sent an RWT in order to generate an "End of Message" to return stations down the line to their normal programming. A 3rd alert was originated by the Florida EOC, a few minutes later that proved to be ideal, the message was ignored and not relayed so as to avoid additional program interruptions. Effective 06/20/06 EAS alerts encoded with CAE have been set for Manual Relay. Any CAE alerts to be transmitted on the LP1 should be checked prior to air and if problems exist with the message, the alert will be deleted. The voice faded out about 5 seconds into the audio message. Since our EAS equipment was still receiving and recording while also retransmitting the message, there was no option to "end" the alert and send the EOM data bursts. I proceeded to power cycle our EAS equipment in order to return to normal programming. This resulted, however, in the normal program audio of WPLA (LP1) being rebroadcast on any station that was retransmitting the alert. Once our EAS equipment was reset, I sent an RWT in order to generate an "End of Message" to return stations down the line to their normal programming. A 3rd alert was originated by the Florida EOC, a few minutes later that proved to be ideal, the message was ignored and not relayed so as to avoid additional program interruptions. Effective 06/20/06 EAS alerts encoded with CAE have been set for Manual Relay. Any CAE alerts to be transmitted on the LP1 should be checked prior to air and if problems exist with the message, the alert will be deleted.
